Review "Communication Mosaics is a top-rate introductory text for the field of communication. Dr. Wood's writing style is friendly for the beginning student, but she references enough studies to please even the most ardent scholar. Her text is balanced, enlightening, and reader-friendly.""I personally believe that the approach of this text is right on point. I am really impressed with the way Dr. Wood has integrated so many important areas for beginning Communication Studies majors into one text and organized the chapters in a way that makes these areas accessible." This text was chosen by Professor for Public Speaking college course... it was such a waste of money and parts actually caused bile to rise in my throat. The book itself is written... let us say it is an easy read. Impossible to consider it 'College' level vocabulary or concept. Additionally, I was repulsed by the author's constant politically correctness and liberal viewpoints as she pushed them down the throat of the reader. Paraphrased example: Homosexuality in this country is an issue because married couples refer to their partners a 'husband' or 'wife' and not the generic 'spouse', this causes discrimination against homosexuals. Really?! This is why bigots exist?Additionally, the constant excerpts from former students are extremely distracting. I absolutely hated these randomly placed filler statements which were obviously utilized by a writer lacking the ability to compose a communication textbook without filling the pages with cherry picked statements from former students.
